The Spa at 500

The Spa At 500 is a wellness center offering therapeutic and relaxation massage, acupuncture, and beauty treatments. We can also host your event or bring massage therapy to your home or office.

The Spa is the home of the Art of Massage, Central New York's premier massage therapy practice, founded in 1997.

We believe that dealing with stress in healthy ways is a key to health, longevity, and happiness. Our menu of massage treatments can be customized to meet your needs. Our house also includes a seven person therapeutic Jacuzzi tub, and a redwood sauna for you to enjoy before and after your massage. The elegance of the setting and the quality of our experienced massage therapists combine for an experience you won't forget. The Spa is also home to Goode Looks Salon, offering a full range of hair styles, nail treatments, and facials, and Goode Chi, featuring acupuncture with Annette Burden.

If you're on campus, or downtown, and want to drive to the Spa, there's no need to have a car. You can join in a local car sharing company, CuseCar. Students can join for $25 per year, and it costs just $7 per hour to use a car (that covers your insurance and even your gas). Non students pay $18 per month, and the charge per hour is just $5.95. No hassle, just go to their web site, www.cusecar.org, and sign up. We'll be waiting for you!

You know it feels good. And you know it helps you get back to working and exercising without pain. Now you know why.

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/06/how-massage-heals-sore-muscles/

"Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky, a professor of pediatrics and medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, said that massage works quite differently from Nsaids and other anti-inflammatory drugs, which reduce inflammation and pain but may actually retard healing. Many people, for instance, pop an aspirin or Aleve at the first sign of muscle soreness.

“There’s some theoretical concern that there is a maladaptive response in the long run if you’re constantly suppressing inflammation with drugs,” he said. “With massage, you can have your cake and eat it too—massage can suppress inflammation and actually enhance cell recovery.”

After 13 years on the SU hill, The Art of Massage is moving off campus. If you have enjoyed our therapeutic or relaxation massage at Marshall Square, you will love the ambience of the Spa at 500. Within a mile of campus, the Spa has a jacuzzi, a sauna, lounges in an absolutely gorgeous setting. Free and easy parking. Same number, same web site, same great massage therapists.

To say farewell to Marshall and to welcome our friends to the Spa, we will be offering free chair massage between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM on Monday, January 30 at Marshall Square. Just like us on Facebook to be eligible for a chair massage, and to receive coupons for your next visit to the Spa.
